H.R.705 seeks to protect veterans from being “red flagged” by unelected bureaucrats.
Under H.R.705, bureaucrats may no longer find a veteran to be “a danger to themselves or others” for the purpose of sending their personal information to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).
For any such action to be taken against a veteran, first the finding must be made by a “judge, magistrate, or other judicial authority of competent jurisdiction”, rightly, removing bureaucrats’ power in this matter.
